Julie Read is an artist resident in Midlothian near Edinburgh. She is also the founder of Portfolio Oomph – getting you into art college, where she works with students developing an art college portfolio.

Born in Derby in 1971, she studied at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art graduating in Fine Art Printmaking in 1994. Since then she has developed work for group and solo exhibitions both nationally and internationally including United States, Switzerland, Germany, UK, Bosnia and has undertaken residencies in Vienna and Basel.

The exhibitions and residencies listed serve to illustrate the breadth and scope of her work. Public and corporate collections hold works, Royal Bank of Scotland, Archive Centre for Artists Books – Dundee Contemporary Arts, National Library of Scotland, International Portrait Gallery in Tuzla – Bosnia, Karelian State Museum Permanent Collection – Russia.
